We are a non-profit organization with a goal to provide student athletes from outside of the U.S the experience of playing basketball at the high school level and give them exposure to college scouts. We believe it is a great opportunity for students to explore the wonderful American culture. We are based in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and have contacts at many schools in the Pine Belt area including Hattiesburg High School and Petal High School.
Otto Crawford played football at Moss Point High School and won the State Championship in 1997. He then attended Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and started as a freshmen. After, he earned a scholarship to the University of Southern Mississippi (a Division I School) where he studied Coaching and Sports Administration and also won the Conference USA championship.
He became involved in basketball after finishing his career and degree at the University of Southern Mississippi. Through trial and error, he found that basketball and football are very closely related. He believes wholeheartedly that hard work, determination and teamwork are three instrumental factors to being a champion.
Otto's philosophy is to fail first and succeed second. He also believes in winning at all costs, whilst playing in a sportsmanlike manner.
In 2009, me and my family hosted two students from Venezuela as well as England. Both students came through a foreign exchange program. The students and I both found it very frustrating that there was no contact between the student and host before their arrival. I decided to help accomodate a variety of foreign exchange students, giving them the chance to go to school and compete at a high level. Throughout my experiences I have enjoyed helping young adults grow and mature to reach their goals.
In the 2009-2010 season, I was the assistant coach at Hattiesburg High school. In 2010, I will be assistant coach at Petal High School. I am the Head Coach of a summer league AAU team called the Hattiesburg AAU Tigers. AAU helps to give players further exposure to college scouts.
